Last night my dinner was hot dogs and beans. In the mail I got a request from PMA to join for the Wyeth exhibit, $75.00 discounted from $90.00. What they don't get is that is my food budget for the week.

I can't afford to hire models to make new sculptures. Why should I pay to see an other artists work?

Art disconnected

"Recently, he said, a police officer tapped on his car window, wondering what he was doing. The exchange went something like this, Wyeth recalled: "I told him, 'I'm making a drawing of a house over there.' And he said, 'Who do you think you are? Andrew Wyeth?' "" from the Inky.

This shows the problem artists have, they are disconnected from people. Art museums treat art like trophies.

Barnes move - Philly style

Thanks to Artblog and MAN for their updates on the Barnes move.

In the Inky story the reason for the move is:

"Mayor John Street called the museum one of the "big three" projects - slot machine gambling and an expanded convention center are the others - that will help Philadelphia compete with cities like Boston and New York."

What they don't understand is that NY is the center of the art world because of the world class galleries (Chelsea) and Wall Street. Philly needs much more to be competitive.

On Saturday I taught a workshop at PAFA on sculpting animals. All those who came had a great time and made very cool sculptures.
